Quotes from the original 142d

  • ~ Private James E. MacLane

"Your first trial and baptism was a convincing proof of your ability to stand.  That I have from the highest authority, from those living and some that have passed away.  No regiment stood up any better under a severe fire and with less confusion in falling back than the 142d did."

  • ~ Colonel H. N. Warren

142d Monument - Gettysburg, PA"This monument, comrades, will tell the world--yes, generations yet unborn that the men who composed the 142d Pennsylvania Volunteers were patriots; it will be a silent yet potential monitor, proclaiming our sacrifice to Loyalty, our love for the Union and our devotion to the Stars and stripes."
